Fast times at Macgyver

This was a fun project yet difficult enough that it required a weekend to finish. For Season 5 Episode 14 I was tasked with generating a billboard that Macgyver would turn into a wrap for the Bizzarrini strada 5300 GT, easy enough right? Well, the design challenge here is creating a design that will be recognizable from the moment you see it on screen, to the moment it becomes the car. Our wonderful Art Directo Paul “Rex” Hendricks was able to get me some patterns I could work off to then measure out and translate those measurements into actual prints. After plenty of design revisions, we were able to land on the design that made it to camera. We used 3M low tac material to print on a HP latex 350 and achieve the prints to hand to the scenic department that would install the prints onto the car. They did an amazing job despite the material being delicate and after printing various patterns for different days and takes, it worked out beautifully on camera.
